PM Modi, Amit Shah Extend Greetings On Gujarat Statehood Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes to the people of Gujarat on the occasion of their Statehood Day, celebrated annually on May 1.

He praised the state for its rich cultural identity, enterprise, and dynamism that have helped Gujaratis excel in various fields.

Taking to the social media platform X, PM Modi posted, “On the proud occasion of their Statehood Day, my best wishes to the people of Gujarat. The state has distinguished itself for its culture, spirit of enterprise and dynamism. The people of Gujarat have excelled in various fields. May the state keep attaining new heights of progress.”

Amit Shah Praises Gujarat’s Heritage

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to X to wish the people of Gujarat on the occasion.

He described the state as renowned for its natural resources, hospitality, and historical and cultural wealth. He added that Gujarat has consistently drawn global attention for its hard work, talent, and practical wisdom.

“Gujarat has always attracted people from across the world with its talent, hard work and practical skills. From the Bhakti movement to the freedom struggle and now modern India, Gujaratis have contributed immensely to nation-building,” Shah wrote.

CM Bhupendra Patel Unveils Decade-Long Roadmap

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel greeted all Gujaratis on ‘Gujarat Gaurav Diwas’, or Gujarat Pride Day.

In his message, he honoured the state’s legacy and announced an ambitious vision to mark the decade between 2025 and 2035 as the ‘Utkarsh Gujarat Diamond Festival’.

The vision culminates in 2035, when Gujarat will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of its formation.

Historical Context

Gujarat and Maharashtra were officially established on May 1, 1960, following the enactment of the Bombay Reorganisation Act.

The law split Bombay State into Gujarat and Maharashtra, recognising their distinct linguistic and cultural identities.

As Gujarat celebrates 64 years of formation, the leadership’s unified message underlines both pride in its storied past and confidence in its ambitious future.

With national leaders recognising its contributions and CM Patel charting a visionary course ahead, Gujarat enters its Diamond Decade with renewed purpose.
