Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday thanked Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, for reaching out and offering condolences following the tragic accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City that resulted in the deaths of 12 Indian nationals.
In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister said he appreciated the Amir’s phone call and his expression of sympathy during this difficult time.
PM Modi noted that both leaders shared the grief of the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured in the incident. He further stated that India and Qatar remain united in their commitment to ensuring the safety, security and well-being of their citizens and stand firmly in solidarity with one another.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that it is working closely with Qatari authorities to identify and repatriate the mortal remains of the deceased Indian nationals.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said around 66 people were injured in the blast. India is coordinating with Qatari authorities to repatriate the victims’ mortal remains and is providing support to the affected families.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy.
In a message posted on X, the Minister conveyed condolences to the families of the victims and assured that the Indian Embassy in Qatar continues to coordinate with Qatari authorities and extend all possible assistance to affected Indian nationals. He said India’s thoughts and prayers remain with the victims and their loved ones.
