PM Modi Accuses Congress Of Sheltering Infiltrators; Altering Assam’s Demography

PM Narendra Modi on Sunday launched several development projects in Golaghat district and strongly criticised the Congress party for what he called its failure to develop Assam during decades of rule.

He alleged that Congress not only neglected growth but also gave shelter to infiltrators, which altered Assam’s demography.

“Congress ruled Assam for several decades. However, they failed to bring development to the state; rather, they provided shelter to the infiltrators, which brought demographic alterations in Assam,” PM Modi said while addressing a public gathering.

Highlighting the initiatives of the current government, PM Modi praised the BJP administration for taking up the challenge of freeing Assam from illegal infiltrators. He emphasised that the state government has been working to secure the rights of indigenous people by providing land pattas to Scheduled Tribes (STs).

He further asserted that the BJP’s “double-engine government” at the Centre and the state has accelerated development in Assam, bringing visible progress across sectors.

Attack on Congress Over the 1962 War Policies

The Prime Minister also revived criticism of Congress’s handling of the 1962 Chinese aggression.

Addressing a massive rally in Darrang district, he said that the people of Assam still carry the scars of Jawaharlal Nehru’s policies during the war, when the Northeast was left to fend for itself.

“The wounds inflicted on Assam during the 1962 war have yet to heal. The Congress of today continues with the same mindset—protecting infiltrators and anti-national forces instead of standing firmly with our Army and nation,” he remarked.

PM Modi accused Congress of playing with Assam’s security and identity while ignoring infrastructure growth. He contrasted the Congress record of building only three bridges over the Brahmaputra during decades of rule with the BJP government’s completion of six bridges in the past ten years.

“This shows the difference between their negligence and our commitment to connectivity and development,” PM Modi said, promising that the BJP would never allow infiltrators to grab Assam’s land or undermine its cultural fabric.
