PM-KISAN Crosses ₹3.70 Lakh Crore Milestone; Over 11 Crore Farmers Benefit

The Central Government has disbursed more than ₹3.70 lakh crore to over 11 crore farmer families through 20 instalments of the PM-KISAN scheme, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.

The scheme continues to expand as funds reach only those farmers whose land records are verified, bank accounts are Aadhaar-seeded, and eKYC is completed.

Launched on February 24, 2019, PM-KISAN provides annual income support of ₹6,000 to each eligible landholding farmer family.

The government transfers the amount in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 directly into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

A major saturation drive under the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in November 2023 added over one crore new eligible farmers to the scheme.

The Centre added another 25 lakh farmers to PM-KISAN in the first 100 days of the new government in June 2024.

As a result, the number of beneficiaries for the 18th instalment rose to 9.59 crore.

The government conducted a special drive between September 21, 2024, and early 2025 to clear pending self-registration cases.

This drive streamlined access by approving a large number of pending applications.

Since the drive began, states and Union Territories have approved more than 30 lakh applications.

PM-KISAN stands among the world’s largest DBT initiatives, delivering financial support directly to beneficiaries without intermediaries.

The scheme also reflects a commitment to inclusivity, with over 25 per cent of benefits directed to women farmers.

India’s strong digital infrastructure has played a decisive role in the scheme’s success.

The integration of Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhaar, and mobile connectivity ensures transparent and timely transfers.

Farmers can self-register online, land records are digitally verified, and payments reach bank accounts without delay.

State governments continue to support this framework by ensuring smooth coordination at the ground level.

PM-KISAN has also driven technological innovation in agriculture. Tools such as Kisan eMitra, a voice-based chatbot, are helping modernise the farm ecosystem.

AgriStack, a digital platform offering personalised advisories, further improves service delivery.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released another ₹18,000 crore as part of the scheme’s 21st instalment.

This instalment benefited nine crore farmers across the country through DBT.
