PM Applauds Amit Shah’s Record Tenure Coinciding With Article 370 Abrogation Anniversary

On Tuesday, Amit Shah made history by becoming the longest-serving Union Home Minister in India, marking a significant milestone in his political career and in the history of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Amit Shah, who also serves as the Minister of Cooperation, during the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting.

The Prime Minister praised Shah’s leadership and highlighted key achievements under his tenure.

PM Modi noted that the BJP government had given true effect to the Constitution and fulfilled the vision of Dr BR Ambedkar by implementing it in spirit.

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya shared the news on the social media platform.

Taking to X, he posted, “Shri Amit Shah becomes the longest-serving Union Home Minister in India’s history. With 2,258 days in office, he has now surpassed Shri Lal Krishna Advani’s tenure of 2,256 days as Home Minister.”

The timing of the milestone is symbolic, coinciding with the sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, which removed Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and integrated the region more closely with the rest of India, a move seen as one of the most defining actions of Shah’s tenure.

This development follows closely after PM Modi himself became the longest-serving Prime Minister in Indian history, overtaking the record held by Indira Gandhi.

Before Shah and Advani, India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, held the longest term in the role, serving for 1,218 days.

Amit Shah’s tenure has been marked by several bold decisions, including the scrapping of Article 370, aggressive anti-terror operations, and a focus on strengthening internal security.

He has also declared a firm deadline to eliminate Maoist insurgency from the country, promising to eradicate it entirely by March 2026.
