Playing Safe! Rahul Gandhi To Contest From Two Seats In Lok Sabha Elections 2024

Rahul Gandhi, former President of Congress is going to ditch his Wayanad Parliamentary seat from Kerala in Lok Sabha Elections 2024. As per reports, Rahul Gandhi is likely to contest from two different seats.

Lok Sabha elections are around the corner and the heat for the upcoming polls can clearly be felt in the political world. Opposition is trying its level so that Modi-led BJP government cannot make it a hattrick this year. Also, for many political leaders, survival has become a question. Several prominent leaders are just giving in all their efforts to stay inside the parliament. As Sonia Gandhi opted out of the Lok Sabha elections and went for the Rajya Sabha seat this time, it seems that the veteran leader wanted to keep herself safe from eviction from Parliament.

Rahul Gandhi and Lok Sabha election seats

Rahul Gandhi is expected to fight the 2024 polls from two different constituencies. One from either Karnataka or Telangana and one from Uttar Pradesh. It is to be noted that Rahul lost his ‘legacy seat’ of Amethi in the last Lok Sabha polls in a faceoff with Smriti Irani.

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) is pressuring Congress to grant them three seats this time instead of two during the seat-sharing talks in Kerala. This is the most recent development in the ongoing developments. Given that the Muslim community makes up the majority of its voters, IUML wishes to run for office from Wayanad.

Situation of Wayanad seat

In addition, Annie Raja, the Wayanad-born wife of D Raja, the party’s general secretary, has been nominated by the Communist Party of India (CPI). That the wife of a well-known leader will be running against Rahul Gandhi will not be good for the INDIA alliance. In the party’s national executive meeting, CPI general secretary D Raja stated that the request for Congress to withdraw from Wayanad had not been discussed.

“Wayanad is one of the four seats that CPI got as part of the seat-sharing agreement within LDF,” D Raja was quoted by media.
