People Of Maharashtra Have Backed Us Again, Says PM Modi On Zilla Parishad Results

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday welcomed the outcome of the recently concluded Zilla Parishad elections in Maharashtra, saying the people of the state have once again placed their faith in the Bharatiya Janata Party and its Mahayuti alliance.

In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister described the verdict as a clear endorsement of good governance and an alliance anchored in Maharashtra’s rich cultural legacy. He thanked the people for backing what he called a development-oriented and stable administration.

The BJP-led Mahayuti, comprising the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party, registered a sweeping victory by winning 552 of the 731 Zilla Parishad seats.

The alliance also secured more than 1,000 of the 1,462 Panchayat Samiti seats, as per figures released by the State Election Commission.

Within the alliance, the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 225 seats, followed by the NCP with 165 seats and the Shiv Sena with 162 seats.

The performance adds to the coalition’s earlier successes in the 2024 Assembly elections and the municipal corporation and municipal council polls held in phases during late 2025 and early 2026.

Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to the sisters and brothers of Maharashtra for their continued support, noting that the mandate cuts across rural and urban areas. He said the results underline a shared aspiration for effective governance and development that respects the state’s proud traditions.

He also lauded Mahayuti workers for their efforts on the ground, saying they played a key role in communicating the achievements of the Maharashtra government and the broader vision of the NDA focused on development and welfare.

Strong Turnout, Urban Dominance

The ruling alliance’s dominance was also reflected in urban civic bodies, where it had earlier secured majorities in several key municipal corporations, including Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur.

Voter turnout in the Zilla Parishad elections stood at around 68.28 percent, pointing to strong public participation.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the results indicate sustained public confidence in the alliance’s performance across urban, semi-urban and rural regions, further strengthening its position at the grassroots level.
