As part of Maha Kumbh 2025, Parmarth Niketan hosted a two-day ‘Culture Kumbh’ at Parmarth Camp, Sector 23, Arail Ghat, starting Wednesday with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.

Dignitaries at the event praised the divine significance and grandeur of Maha Kumbh, noting the exceptional cleanliness and well-organized facilities provided for pilgrims.

Amrit Abhijat, Principal Secretary for Urban Development, shared that preparations for Maha Kumbh had begun two years prior, with an anticipated attendance of 40 crore people.

So far, 38 crore devotees have participated, with approximately 1.25 crore taking a holy dip each day.

He further emphasized ongoing efforts to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for all visitors.

Abhijat also revealed that during the previous Kumbh, Rs 2,315 crore was spent on organizing the event.

For this Maha Kumbh, the Central Government allocated Rs 7,000 crore, and the Uttar Pradesh Government contributed Rs 7,400 crore, making the total investment Rs 14,400 crore.

He highlighted that 75% of the total investment has directed towards infrastructure development, ensuring long-term benefits beyond the event.

This includes the construction of 500 new roads and railway stations.

Additionally, sanitation facilities have significantly upgraded, with the number of toilets increasing from 65,000 in the last Kumbh to 1 lakh this time.

To maintain cleanliness, 15,000 sanitation workers are on duty around the clock.

The event saw the presence of notable figures, including Swami Chidananda Saraswati Ji, Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati Ji, Minister of State for Energy Shripad Nayak, former Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal, author Shantanu Gupta, Pushkar Sharma, and columnist Shefali Vaidya.
