Varanasi: Numerous parlors in Purvanchal are operating in various parts of the state. Soon, this facility will be available for animals as well, with Purvanchal’s first dog parlor set to open in the shed of Lalpur (Meerapur Basahi Ward). The parlor will offer services like different hairstyles, manicures, pedicures, and spa treatments for dogs.
In this regard, the Municipal Corporation has submitted a proposal of Rs 1.64 crore to the government to establish an Animal Birth Control (ABC) Center, which has been approved. The first installment of Rs 80 lakh has also been released. As part of this initiative, the Corporation has identified one acre of land in Aedha of Lalpur (Meerapur Basahi Ward) for building the ABC Center. The construction of the center is set to commence in ten days.
According to Dr. Ajay Pratap Singh, Veterinary and Welfare Officer of the Corporation, the population of dogs in Banaras is continuously increasing, with a significant number of people keeping dogs. Due to a lack of care, dogs often suffer from various diseases, and these adverse effects also impact humans. Recognizing the need for animal care facilities, similar to those in metropolitan cities, Banaras will introduce a parlor facility in Animal Birth Control.
Apart from dog shearing, the parlor will provide services like oil massage, conditioning treatment, and hot packs at reasonable rates. The dogs’ eyes, ears, and faces will be cleaned, and a nominal fee will be charged for these services.
