The grand Amrit Snan on Basant Panchami at Maha Kumbh, Prayagraj, witnessed more than 2.5 crore devotees taking a holy dip at Triveni Sangam, marking a momentous spiritual occasion.
The influx of pilgrims was evident in the days leading up to the event, highlighting the significance of the ritual.
In anticipation of the large number of devotees, the Prayagraj Railway Division ensured smooth travel by operating 106 Mela Special trains on Basant Panchami, alongside nearly 200 regular trains from various stations.
This initiative provided safe and efficient transportation for lakhs of pilgrims.
The Amrit Snan holds great spiritual importance during Maha Kumbh, drawing millions of devotees seeking purification.
To accommodate the growing number of travelers, the Prayagraj Railway Division strategically ran both special and regular trains, facilitating seamless travel for all.
Train services organized by direction, with trains from Prayag and Phaphamau stations serving travelers heading towards Lucknow and Rae Bareli, while Rambagh and Jhunsi stations managed routes towards Varanasi.
Similarly, services from Prayagraj Junction and Subedarganj directed towards Delhi, Agra, and Kanpur, while trains from Naini and Chheoki stations operated towards Satna, Maihar, and Manikpur.
The meticulous planning ensured minimal congestion, with an estimated 10 lakh passengers transported safely on Basant Panchami.
Amit Malviya, Senior Public Relations Officer of Prayagraj Railway, confirmed that the highest number of Mela Special trains, 55 in total, operated from Prayagraj Junction.
Other stations involved included 11 trains from Chheoki, 2 from Naini Junction, 8 from Subedarganj, 15 from Prayagraj and Phaphamau, 6 from Rambagh, and 9 from Jhunsi towards Varanasi.
To streamline crowd management, a color-coded shelter system implemented to guide passengers efficiently.
The movement of pilgrims was closely monitored through CCTV cameras from the railway control room, ensuring real-time guidance and smooth coordination throughout the event.
