Kolkata: Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi believes Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is the opposition bloc’s biggest liability, and he has warned that several opposition parties risk losing recognition from the Election Commission if they are defeated by the Narendra Modi-led BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The former Union minority affairs minister attempted to allay fears about the implementation of the CAA by stating that “not a single Indian citizen, including Muslims, would be affected by the new legislation” and accusing the opposition of attempting to incite communal conflict and confusion across the country. Naqvi projected a landslide win for the BJP administration for a third consecutive term, citing considerable public distrust in opposition parties, notably the Congress.
He criticized the opposition coalition INDIA, claiming that it lacked unified leadership and policies, with internal rivalries and aspirations impeding its effectiveness.
“INDIA alliance is a threat to its allies, not the BJP. They are in a state of constant conflict and confusion because there is no clear leadership or policy. Everyone aspires to become Prime Minister. People do not want Congress, their most powerful friend, to be able to manage their country remotely. It has no visibility on the ground,” he explained.

Naqvi singled out Rahul as a problem for the INDIA group, implying that the opposition’s dissatisfaction is reflected in their speech. He stated that Rahul is the liability of the opposition coalition INDIA. Their sadness about impending failure is now obvious in the form of abuse, which reflects their fury. The INDIA bloc in no way poses a challenge to the BJP.
