On Friday, India marked its 79th Independence Day with a strong salute to the Armed Forces and a renewed pledge to achieve a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 12th address from the Red Fort, lauded the success of Operation Sindoor as a decisive response to the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack.
Speaking with visible pride, he said the mission penetrated deep into Pakistani territory. It sent an unmistakable signal to those who threaten India.
Prime Minister Modi stated, “Our Armed Forces have once again demonstrated their unmatched courage and precision. Operation Sindoor is a testament to India’s unwavering resolve to protect its sovereignty.”
The theme for this year’s Independence Day, ‘Naya Bharat’, symbolised the nation’s rapid progress. It reflected India’s path to achieving developed status by the 100th anniversary of independence in 2047.
At Gyanpath, the ceremonial grounds featured the Operation Sindoor emblem, with floral designs reflecting its symbol.
In an aerial display, two Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopters flew over the Red Fort as the Prime Minister unfurled the national flag.
One carried the Tricolour, while the other bore the Operation Sindoor banner, a tribute to the nation’s soldiers.
The celebrations drew thousands of spectators, including dignitaries, students, and citizens from across India.
Security was tight, and the atmosphere was charged with national pride as military parades and cultural performances filled the morning.
The Prime Minister’s address also highlighted India’s strides in development, empowerment of the youth, and advances in technology.
As the nation steps into its 79th year of independence, the celebrations place both security and inclusive growth at the core.
Operation Sindoor, now part of the country’s collective memory, served as a reminder of a confident, self-reliant India.
