Odisha Farmers Receive Boost As PM Modi Hails Koraput Coffee In Mann Ki Baat

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recognition of Koraput Coffee. The mention came during the PM’s weekly Mann Ki Baat programme on Sunday.

The Governor said the appreciation will serve as a major morale boost for coffee growers in the region. He further highlighted the contribution of women farmers who have played a key role in Koraput’s coffee success.

Taking to X, the Governor posted, “Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji’s appreciation of Koraput Coffee in his #MannKiBaat programme is a major encouragement to Odisha’s coffee growers, especially the women farmers who have transformed Koraput into a symbol of empowerment and excellence.”</span>

“During my recent visit to Koraput, I had the privilege of visiting the coffee farms, interacting with the farmers and tasting their coffee. It was an exceptional blend of quality and passion,” the post further read.

Governor Kambhampati further recommended everyone to try Koraput Coffee and witness Odisha’s rising reputation in India’s coffee sector.

Similarly, CM Mohan Charan Majhi described PM Modi’s reference to Koraput Coffee as a source of pride for the state. He said the mention recognises Odisha’s growing contribution to India’s coffee culture.

The Chief Minister further highlighted that Koraput Coffee reflects the state’s diverse climate and rich harvest.

“This morning, pride brewed with joy when the Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi mentioned in his Mann Ki Baat programme about the taste and impact Koraput Coffee has had on Odisha and Bharat. Koraput coffee is a testament of Odisha’s diverse climate and harvest. De facto, it is also a window into the support our coffee cultivators and women garner. This Sunday, brew a cup of Odisha’s homegrown coffee and spend some quality time with family. India’s coffee is truly brewed in India, and loved by the world,” the CM posted on X.

On Sunday, during the 127th episode of his monthly radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi spoke about Odisha’s famous Koraput coffee. He praised its quality and the passion of its cultivators.

Describing it as ‘India’s finest coffee, crafted at home and cherished worldwide’, he lauded its growing global appeal.

“There are people in Koraput who are cultivating coffee through their sheer passion. They were doing handsome jobs in the corporate world, but they liked coffee so much that they entered this field and are now successfully working in it. Coffee has pleasantly transformed the lives of many women,” he stated.

The Prime Minister lauded how coffee cultivation in Koraput has empowered women and driven socio-economic development in the region.

“They have gained both respect and prosperity through coffee. There’s no doubt that Koraput Coffee is truly delectable! This indeed is a pride of Odisha,” the Prime Minister said, sharing a sentiment roughly translated from Odia.
