NSA Ajit Doval And Principal Secretary P.K. Mishra To Continue Their Tenure

As NDA forms the government in the centre for a third consecutive term, Ajit Doval serves as NSA again. Prime Minister on Thursday appointed Ajit Doval as the National Security Advisor for the third straight term, with the rank of Cabinet Minister for another five years.

In his first major assignment, the newly appointed NSA is visiting Italy with the Prime Minister to attend a G7 meeting. Notably, Ajit was present in the review meeting on the Kuwait building fire chaired by PM on Wednesday.

Doval is a former Indian Service officer (IPS) who retired in 2005. He became- the first time- National Security Advisor in May 2014 as Narendra Modi took oath for the first time.

“The appointment Committee of Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Ajit Doval, IPS(retired), as National Security Advisor with effect from 10.6.2024. His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever until further orders,” a notification released by the central government read.

The notification further asserted, “During the term of the office, he will be assigned the rank of the Cabinet Minister in the table of the precedence. Terms and conditions of his appointment will be notified separately.

Doval became the first police officer to receive the second highest peacetime gallantry award for Operation Black-thunder-II. The purpose of Operation Black-thunder was to flush out militants from Golden Temple in 1988. He is a 1998 Kerala batch officer.

With Ajit Doval P.K. Mishra To Continue Tenure

In a second major announcement on Thursday, the Prime Minister has extended the tenure of P.K. Mishra.  P.K. Mishra has served as principal secretary to the PM.

P.K. Mishra has been working with PM Modi since he was Chief Minister of Gujarat.

A notification from the central government regarding the matter stated, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr. P.K. Mishra, lAS (Retired) as Principal Secretary to Prime. Minister with effect from 10.06.2024. His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders whichever is earlier.”

The notification further said, “During the term of his office, he will be assigned the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Table of Precedence. Terms and conditions of his appointment will be notified separately.
