Now Is The Best Time To Invest, Innovate And Make In India: PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that the present moment offers the best opportunity to invest, innovate and ‘Make in India’, as the nation expands its presence in manufacturing, technology and digital infrastructure.

Speaking at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, PM Modi highlighted India’s preparedness to tackle global challenges and establish itself as a major force in emerging fields such as semiconductors, mobile manufacturing and data security.

The Prime Minister noted that disruptions in international supply chains create space for India to step forward and provide effective alternatives.

“To strengthen the country’s semiconductor capabilities, the government is working on setting up 10 semiconductor manufacturing units,” PM Modi stated.

The Prime Minister encouraged further development in chipsets and other mobile components to support this vision.

He further pointed out that as the world produces ever-increasing volumes of data, the issues of storage, security and data sovereignty will gain growing significance.

“India has the potential to become a global data hub, supported by its strong digital connectivity and affordable data — with 1GB costing as little as a cup of tea,” PM Modi asserted.

The Prime Minister underlined that digital connectivity is not a luxury but a basic necessity in today’s interconnected world.

PM Modi credited India’s democratic framework, openness and ease of doing business for making the country an attractive destination for investors.

Need for Modern Legal Framework

Reflecting on the progress of the past decade, PM Modi emphasised the need for a modern legal structure to support India’s fast-paced technological and digital evolution.

The Prime Minister added that India’s industries and innovators have a greater responsibility to drive growth, and highlighted the crucial role startups will play in boosting innovation and competitiveness on a global scale.

“From manufacturing to electronics and semiconductors, India has ample opportunities and energy to lead in the global technology landscape,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi concluded by stressing that the country is accelerating reforms, making this the ideal moment for investment, innovation and building a strong, self-reliant India.
