North India: Experiences Dense Fog Ahead The New Year Celebration; Check Temperatures Of Cities

North India: North India is likely to experience dense fog in the region ahead of the New Year. According to the India Meteorological Department, a fresh cold wave spell is very likely to commence in isolated pockets over parts of northwest region from January 1, 2023. Dense to very Dense fog will be on plains of northwest India during the next five days.

Temperature In Northern States

Ahead of the New Year celebration, minimum temperatures were in the range of five to eight degree-Celsius. Several parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, will experience biting cold.

Severe Dense Fog seen in isolated pockets over Punjab, West Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, West Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam and Tripura also witnessed dense fog on Saturday morning.

Amid the dip in the temperature, Rainfall/snowfall is also observed at many places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Sub- Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh, Assam in the past one day.

India Meteorological Department Report On Temperature Dip

In a weather report, the IMD stated, “Dense to very dense fog very likely in some/many pockets in night/morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and in isolated pockets over Bihar during next 5 days. Dense fog in isolated pockets over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand during next 3-4 days, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during next 2 days and over Arunachal Pradesh during next 24 hours.”

Minimum temperatures in the region are likely to fall two to four degree Celsius in the during the next two days. “Cold Day conditions in isolated pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh during 01st-02nd Jan; over Uttar Pradesh during 01st-04th Jan; over West Rajasthan during 31st December 2022-01st January 2023,” the IMD stated.

Moreover, MeT Department said, “Cold wave conditions in isolated pockets very likely over Himachal Pradesh during 31st Dec-01st Jan; over Punjab and West Rajasthan during 31st Dec-04th Jan; over Haryana & Chandigarh and East Rajasthan during 01st-04th Jan; over Delhi during 03rd- 04th Jan; over West Uttar Pradesh during 01st-02nd January, 2023.” No significant change in minimum temperatures is very likely over east India and the remaining parts of Central India during the next three days and rise by two to three degree-Celsius thereafter.
