No Major Decisions Are Taken Without India’s Consultation, Says Foreign Minister S Jaishankar

India’s Impact on Globalization: India’s Foreign Minister, S Jaishankar, recently mentioned that the world’s perception of India is changing, and today, major global decisions are made with India’s input. He made this statement in Nagpur, Maharashtra, emphasizing the significant evolution in how the world now sees India.

During his address in Nagpur, S Jaishankar stated, “Brothers… sisters… now we have changed, and the world’s view of us has also changed.” This statement comes at a time when China’s prominent media outlet, the ‘Global Times,’ published a positive article about India.

The ‘Global Times,’ often seen as a mouthpiece of the Chinese government, praised India’s notable progress in economic development, social governance, and foreign policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. The article, written by Zhang Jiadong, the director of the Center for South Asian Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai, acknowledged India’s robust economic growth, advancements in urban governance, and a shift in its approach to international relations, particularly with China.

Zhang Jiadong’s piece in the ‘Global Times’ highlighted India’s achievements over the last four years, commending its proactive stance in promoting the “India Narrative” and showcasing strategic self-confidence. The article observed that as India experiences rapid economic and social development, it has become more strategically confident, actively contributing to and shaping the ‘India Narrative.’

The ‘Global Times’ article by Zhang Jiadong noted, “In the political and cultural spheres, India has moved from emphasizing its democratic consensus with the West to highlighting the ‘Indian characteristics’ of democratic politics. Presently, even greater emphasis is being laid on the Indian roots of democratic politics.”
