Nitin Nabin Files Rajya Sabha Nomination In Presence Of Amit Shah

Bharatiya Janata Party National President Nitin Nabin officially submitted his nomination for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections on Thursday, clearing the path for his likely entry into Parliament’s Upper House. He arrived at the nomination centre accompanied by several senior BJP leaders and party supporters.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present during the submission of the papers, highlighting the party’s support for his candidature.

The nomination process witnessed the presence of several key leaders from the National Democratic Alliance. Alongside Nitin Nabin, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also submitted his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha election.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah remained present throughout the filing process. Bihar’s Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were also in attendance, along with other leaders.

In addition to Nabin, the BJP has nominated Shivesh Kumar as another Rajya Sabha candidate from Bihar. Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha also entered the race by filing his nomination as an NDA-backed candidate.

Bihar will elect five representatives to the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming biennial polls.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Patna earlier in the afternoon and was received by Nitin Nabin at his residence. Later, HM Shah held a meeting with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and exchanged greetings with him.

During the interaction, Shah also congratulated Kumar and wished him well as he began a new chapter in his political career.

Before filing his nomination, Nitin Nabin started his day with visits to prominent temples across Patna. He offered prayers at Mahavir Mandir, the Kali Temple at Bansghat and the Akhandvasini Devi Temple near Golghar.

March 5 is the final date for filing nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until March 9.

Voting will take place on March 16, and the counting of votes will begin at 5 PM on the same day. The election procedure will formally conclude by March 20.

These elections will result in 37 new members joining the Rajya Sabha from ten states, including Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana. The current members from these seats are likely to complete their terms in April 2026.
