Nine Family Members Killed After Car Falls Into Well In Maharashtra’s Nashik District

Nine members of a family lost their lives after their vehicle fell into a roadside well in Maharashtra’s Nashik district, officials said, in an incident that has shocked the local community.

The accident occurred in the Shivajinagar area of Dindori taluka on Friday night when the family was returning from a private event.

According to preliminary information, the driver is believed to have lost control of the car. It then left the road and plunged into a water-filled well.

Emergency services, including police, fire personnel and disaster response teams, were deployed to the site soon after the incident was reported. Local residents also assisted in the rescue effort, which was hampered by the depth of the well and the presence of water.

Authorities used cranes to retrieve the vehicle from the well several hours later. Bodies of eight victims were initially recovered from inside the car, while a ninth victim, a young girl, was located following a separate search operation.

Officials identified all nine victims as members of the same extended family:

• Rakhi alias Gunwanti (10),
• Madhuri Anil Dargode (13),
• Shravani Anil Dargode (11),
• Asha Anil Dargode (32),
• Shreyash Anil Dargode (11),
• Srishti Anil Dargode (14), and
• Samruddhi Rajesh Dargode (7)

The incident has cast a shadow over the area, with residents expressing grief over the loss.

An NDRF team joined the operation as it continued late into the night. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
