‘Nation First, Party Next, Self Last’: Nitin Nabin Pays Tribute To LK Advani On Birthday

On Sunday, BJP President Nitin Nabin met veteran party leader and Bharat Ratna awardee Lal Krishna Advani at his residence to convey birthday wishes as the former Deputy Prime Minister turned 99 and entered his 100th year.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal and BJP general secretary BL Santosh accompanied Nabin during the visit. Both leaders wished Advani good health and a long life.

Santosh had served as the 7th Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004.

Photographs of the meeting shared on X showed the BJP chief paying his respects to the party veteran.

Nabin described Advani’s journey from the Partition era to nation-building as an embodiment of the principle of ‘Nation First’. He highlighted Advani’s guiding philosophy of ‘Nation First, Party Next, Self Last’, saying it continues to shape the BJP’s organisational values and inspire its workers.

Earlier, the BJP marked Advani’s birthday with a puja and havan at its headquarters. Party leaders gathered to recognise his role in shaping India’s political landscape and democratic institutions. The programme was held on Diwali to honour his contribution to the organisation and the country.

Speaking at the gathering, Nabin praised Advani’s commitment to cultural nationalism and national service. He linked the veteran leader’s historic Rath Yatra with the eventual construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, describing the journey as a reflection of the determination of millions of devotees.

Nabin credited the movement led by Advani with giving fresh momentum to the Ram Temple campaign, adding that the vision was realised under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Goyal, meanwhile, praised Advani’s dedication to the nation, firm principles and commitment to the BJP organisation.
