Nadda To Lead BJP’s Damage Control Efforts In Uttar Pradesh After Lok Sabha Setback

President JP Nadda will preside over the State Executive meeting of the BJP in Lucknow on Sunday, as announced by a party spokesperson. This meeting marks the first executive gathering since the party’s performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha election in Uttar Pradesh. The closed-door sessions will provide a platform for party lawmakers to share their views with the National President and state leadership.

The meeting at the Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University auditorium is expected to draw around 3,000-3,600 delegates from across the state, including sitting MLAs and MPs, Lok Sabha candidates, MLCs, Zila Panchayat chairpersons, Nagar Palika adhyakshas, district presidents, and office bearers.

This meeting comes after the party’s poor show in the Lok Sabha election, where it secured only 33 out of 80 seats in the state. To assess the reasons behind the performance, 40 teams were constituted to visit 78 Lok Sabha constituencies and gather feedback from party workers. The issues identified are likely to be discussed during the State Executive meeting.

The meeting also follows a two-day visit by BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh, who met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers, and regional heads to discuss the party’s performance and upcoming by-elections.

Meanwhile, some party leaders, including a legislator and a union minister, have expressed concerns and discontent over issues like anti-incumbency and irregularities in government appointments, which may impact the party’s prospects in future elections. However, some of these statements have been retracted or clarified to avoid any misinterpretation.
