Mumbai Police Uncover Connections & Weapons In Baba Siddiqui Murder Investigation

The Mumbai Police has revealed that the firearms used in the assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui originated from Rajasthan, further complicating the ongoing investigation into the high-profile case.

Following the murder on 12 October, which has drawn significant media attention, the Mumbai Crime Branch has formed five specialized teams to operate outside of Maharashtra in pursuit of the suspects involved.

One of the key figures identified in this investigation is Zeeshan Siddiqui, believed to be the mastermind behind the plot and the son of the victim.

Authorities have intensified their search efforts in Haryana, where they suspect he may be hiding.

In a significant development, the Crime Branch has recovered a fifth weapon associated with the murder from the Pune residence of Rupesh Mohol, one of the accused.

This follows earlier discoveries, including a firearm found at the home of Ram Fulchand Kanoujia in Raigad, Maharashtra, where he was residing as a tenant.

Despite these recoveries, the police still hunt for one additional weapon and three live cartridges that they believe link to the case.

Investigators suspect that someone smuggled a total of six firearms into Mumbai as part of the plan to execute the murder.

The ongoing investigation has already resulted in the arrest of 15 individuals, with 10 of them currently in judicial custody.

Law enforcement has also discovered troubling evidence on the mobile phones of the shooters, including images of pistols, suggesting premeditation in the attack.

Baba Siddiqui Case Background

Baba Siddiqui, a former minister in Maharashtra, was shot and killed by three assailants near his son’s office in Nirmal Nagar, Mumbai, shocking the political landscape of the state.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for its violent tactics and criminal activities, has claimed responsibility for the assassination, raising concerns over gang influence and public safety.

As the investigation unfolds, Mumbai Police continue to bolster their efforts to bring all responsible parties to justice while addressing the growing fears surrounding gang-related violence in the region.
