Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Urges Citizens To Choose Indian-Made Products This Festive Season

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on citizens to make Indian-made goods their preferred choice as the country prepares for the upcoming festive season, renewing his appeal for ‘Vocal for Local’.

During the 137th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi linked festivals with India’s traditions, cultural heritage and community ties. He noted that people will celebrate Janmashtami on September 4, followed by Vishwakarma Puja in September and Deepawali in the coming months.

PM Modi said Vishwakarma Puja provides an opportunity to recognise artisans, craftspeople and others whose work supports local livelihoods.

With Deepawali preparations already beginning, PM Modi asked families to look beyond traditional festival purchases such as earthen lamps and make the broader idea of ‘Vocal for Local’ part of their shopping decisions.

The Prime Minister urged consumers to check whether products purchased for their homes have been made in India. He said choosing domestic products can support the country’s drive towards self-reliance and encourage greater pride in Indian manufacturing.

PM Modi appealed to people from the creative sector, social media influencers and celebrities to promote the message and encourage more citizens to adopt it. He said their reach could help turn the campaign into a wider public movement during the festive period.

The Prime Minister invited listeners to share stories of people in their communities who are creating positive change through small but meaningful efforts.

PM Modi said such experiences could inspire others across the country and encouraged citizens to send their suggestions and stories for future episodes of ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
