Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Highlights India’s Defence And Self-Reliance Milestones

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that India has achieved significant milestones in national security and self-reliance during the month of June, describing them as accomplishments that have instilled immense pride among the country’s citizens.

Speaking during the 135th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister reflected on the nation’s progress during the first half of 2026, saying the past six months had witnessed remarkable achievements across multiple sectors.

Highlighting India’s growing defence capabilities, PM Modi recalled his recent visit to Kolkata, where he attended a naval event marking the induction of INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agray into the Indian Navy.

PM Modi said India designed and built the warships indigenously, strengthening defence and advancing Atmanirbhar Bharat. He also hailed the maiden test flight of the Made-in-India Airbus C-295, with 40 aircraft currently under production, creating jobs and boosting the MSME and aerospace sectors.

PM Modi further highlighted the successful flight test of the indigenous long-range land attack cruise missile developed jointly by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian industry partners. He said the successful missile test strengthened India’s defence capabilities across land, sea and air.

PM Modi also lauded the global celebrations of International Yoga Day, with events held at over 2,500 locations worldwide and crores participating across India.

Congratulating Indian athletes, the Prime Minister noted that India topped the World Yogasana Championship in Ahmedabad with 114 medals, including 102 golds, and praised the winners for making the nation proud.
