Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India’s cultural legacy is reaching new audiences across the world, with increasing numbers of people embracing its music, philosophy and spiritual traditions.
During the 135th edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi cited an inspiring example from the Dominican Republic to illustrate the country’s growing cultural footprint.
The Prime Minister spoke about ‘Brahmakamal Dominicana’, a collective of Spanish-speaking residents who have developed a keen interest in Vedic literature and the chanting of Sanskrit mantras. He pointed out that the Dominican Republic has only a very small Indian diaspora, yet residents have independently come together to explore India’s ancient spiritual heritage with remarkable dedication.
PM Modi explained that the group’s members did not receive formal instruction in Sanskrit or Vedic traditions. Instead, they perfected the pronunciation of sacred mantras by regularly listening to recorded recitations and practising diligently.
Prime Minister Modi noted that the group now confidently recites revered scriptures, including the ‘Purusha Suktam’, ‘Sri Suktam’, ‘Sri Rudram’, ‘Durga Suktam’ and ‘Devi Mahatmyam’, reflecting their deep commitment to preserving these traditions.
The Prime Minister said their enthusiasm demonstrates that India’s spiritual wisdom continues to resonate with people far beyond its borders.
Congratulating the members of ‘Brahmakamal Dominicana’, PM Modi described their efforts as inspiring and worthy of appreciation. He acknowledged their dedication to learning and promoting India’s ancient traditions despite living thousands of kilometres away.
The Prime Minister also praised individuals and organisations worldwide that continue to introduce Indian culture to new audiences, saying such initiatives reinforce the country’s rich civilisational heritage and strengthen its cultural presence on the global stage.
