On Saturday, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia marked his release from custody with a visit to the Lord Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, Delhi.
Joined by friends, party workers, and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Delhi Ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and party MP Sanjay Singh, Sisodia sought divine blessings during his first public appearance since his bail.
In addition to his temple visit, Sisodia paid homage at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial at Rajghat.
Reflecting on his release, he expressed gratitude for Lord Hanuman’s blessings on his social media platform X, noting that it was through divine intervention that he regained his freedom. Sisodia also conveyed his hopes for AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s prompt release.
Earlier in the day, Sisodia shared a poignant moment with his wife, posting a picture of them enjoying their ‘first tea of independence’ after 17 months.
In his post, he celebrated what he believes is the constitutional right to life and freedom guaranteed to all Indians.
Following his release on Friday evening, AAP supporters and family greeted Sisodia with enthusiasm, chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ through the crowd.
He visited Kejriwal’s residence, where he met with the party leader’s family and received blessings from his parents.
AAP leaders hailed Sisodia’s release as a significant victory and a setback for those they allege orchestrated his illegal imprisonment.
The timing of his release has energized the party, especially with upcoming Assembly elections in Haryana and Delhi on the horizon.
Sisodia’s legal battles began with his arrest by the CBI on 26 February 2023, followed by a subsequent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate two weeks later.
His recent bail in both cases, coupled with critical remarks from the Supreme Court regarding the conduct of investigative agencies, has amplified the party’s renewed vigor as they prepare for future electoral challenges.
