Lucknow: A 21-year-old woman attempting suicide was saved by Meta AI’s intervention in Lucknow. The woman, distraught after her spouse abandoned her, recorded a video with a noose around her neck and shared it on social media.
The video quickly gained attention, triggering an alert at the Social Media Centre of the Directorate General of Police. Meta AI’s warning prompted immediate action from local authorities. Police identified the woman’s location and arrived in time to prevent her from taking her life.
ACP Mohanlalganj Rajneesh Verma reported that Meta AI alerted the police around noon on Saturday. A police team responded promptly, locating the woman and safely removing her from harm. Her family was unaware of the situation at the time.
The woman, in love with a man from another area, had married him in an Arya Samaj temple four months ago. The marriage, not legally recognized, led to the man leaving her and returning to his home. This caused the woman severe emotional distress, leading to the suicide attempt.
The police arrived just in time, with female officers counseling the woman for nearly an hour. She is now safe, and authorities are maintaining regular contact with her. The police have detained the woman’s 23-year-old spouse following her complaint. The case is under investigation, and the woman continues to receive support and counseling.
