On Thursday, the Delhi police reported a stabbing incident in the city. Krishna Sahu, a resident of Shukra Bazar Road, Hari Nagar Extension, was fatally attacked.
Officers received a PCR call at around 11:18 PM about a physical assault on Dharamshala Road.
The team promptly reached the location and, upon arrival, discovered three injured individuals who had been attacked with sharp weapons.
Investigations revealed that the altercation had stemmed from a personal disagreement between two groups connected through a mutual acquaintance.
The primary suspect, Deepak, allegedly harassed Prince (19) on social media before the confrontation.
Under the pretext of a ‘reconciliation meeting’ at around 11:00 PM, a verbal argument escalated into a violent knife attack.
Krishna Sahu suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest, shoulder, and back and was pronounced dead at AIIMS Trauma Centre.
Another victim, Sunny (21), received injuries to his abdomen and thigh and is receiving treatment, while Prince (19) sustained minor injuries.
Police collected vital forensic evidence and registered a case under the relevant sections.
A prompt investigation using CCTV footage and forensic analysis led to the arrest of Aashish (24), a graphic designer from Meethapur village, along with a 17-year-old juvenile.
Authorities, however, continue their efforts to locate other individuals involved in the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of East District, Abhishek Dhania, said a case of murder was registered.
“The police are making efforts to identify the attackers with the help of CCTV cameras installed in the area,” the DCP mentioned.
On the same day, two additional stabbing deaths occurred in Delhi. Mukesh, approximately 40, was discovered near a public toilet in Kalyanpuri, East Delhi, and later declared dead at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.
In North Delhi’s JJ Colony, 23-year-old Ranjan was also fatally stabbed. Police are examining CCTV footage and questioning witnesses in both cases.
These incidents, however, follow a series of violent attacks on New Year’s Eve.
Those attacks resulted in the deaths of a tailor, a rickshaw driver, and a 15-year-old boy in Adarsh Nagar, Mongolpuri, and Sultanpuri.
Law enforcement agencies are intensifying patrols to address escalating street violence in the national Capital.
