A man has been apprehended by the police for driving an open jeep with a child on the bonnet during Onam celebrations, as he navigated a bustling road near the state capital. The incident took place on Tuesday evening along Menamkulam road in the vicinity.
Allegedly, the man operated the vehicle with a six-year-old boy, who happened to be the son of his friend, situated on the car’s bonnet. The matter surfaced when several bystanders captured the perilous spectacle on their mobile devices, subsequently sharing the footage across social media platforms.
An officer from the police force disclosed that the child’s father and some of his companions were also present in the same vehicle when this incident unfolded. “The charges filed pertain to IPC 279 (reckless driving) and the Motor Vehicle Act 184 (dangerous driving). The individual was taken into custody, and his arrest was officially documented,” the officer informed PTI.
Through an investigation involving the identification of the vehicle’s registration number, the accused was successfully identified and detained.
