Mallikarjun Kharge Slams ‘Batenge Toh Katenge’ Slogan During Jharkhand Campaign

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a strong counter to the BJP’s ‘batenge toh katenge’ slogan during his campaign in poll-bound Jharkhand on Tuesday. He labeled the slogan a part of the BJP’s communal agenda aimed at gaining votes. Kharge accused the BJP of creating divisions among communities and threatening the social fabric of the nation.

Appeal to Voters for Social Unity

In his address, Kharge emphasized that the BJP leaders promote divisive rhetoric as part of their agenda. He urged the people to reject this campaign if they seek to improve their lives. “Dalits face discrimination in temples and public spaces. The poor struggle for their basic needs,” he stated. He warned that without addressing these issues, citizens would continue to face exploitation.

Kharge spoke at two public rallies, first in the Mandu region of Hazaribagh and then in Kanke of Ranchi district. He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for their “divisive and destructive” politics. “The BJP wants to rule by inciting conflict among people. We will not let their agenda succeed,” Kharge declared, receiving enthusiastic support from the crowd.

Attacks on Modi and Shah Over Broken Promises

Kharge also targeted Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over alleged unfulfilled promises. “PM Modi claimed Rs 15 lakh would be deposited in everyone’s account. Have you received it?” he asked, recalling Shah’s dismissive response to a journalist about this promise being just an election slogan.

Kharge further criticized the government for failing to deliver on job creation, highlighting that the BJP promised two crore jobs annually. “In ten years, 20 crore jobs should have been created. But did you get them?” he challenged the gathering.

Addressing concerns over Bangladeshi infiltration, Kharge questioned the government’s effectiveness. “It is their duty to protect the borders. Their claims about infiltration undermine our armed forces,” he concluded.
