Major Victory For Waqf In JPC: Hard Work Pays Off, Justice For Muslims Ensured, Says Muslim Rashtriya Manch

The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) has hailed the Joint Parliamentary Committee’s (JPC) approval of the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 as a historic moment.

The organization declared it a milestone for social upliftment and equality across all sections of society.

National Convener and Media In-charge Shahid Sayeed remarked, “This bill will serve as an effective means to address basic societal needs while empowering the underprivileged and weaker sections. Waqf properties will no longer remain restricted to religious activities but will be utilized for sectors such as education, healthcare, and employment.”

Shahid Sayeed attributed this achievement to MRM’s relentless efforts, campaigns, and awareness initiatives.

Over 1,000 programs organized across the nation to educate people about the bill’s relevance. More than 250 representatives from various MRM organizations presented well-reasoned arguments before the JPC.

Additionally, the organization mobilized its members nationwide to send lakhs of letters and emails in support of the bill, which the JPC took seriously.

Despite facing fierce criticism from opposition leaders during the hearings, MRM representatives effectively presented their suggestions with simplicity, evidence, and determination.

Bill’s Benefits

Dr. Shalini Ali, Women’s Wing Chief and National Convener, called the bill a significant step toward empowering the marginalized and women.

“The bill ensures transparency and accountability, fostering equality and prosperity in society. Awareness campaigns were conducted to involve all sections of society and promote women’s participation,” she stated.

Dr. Ali emphasized that the efficient management of Waqf properties would benefit society as a whole.

The bill incorporates recommendations such as digital records, regular audits, and transparency, which will create new opportunities in education and employment.

Dr. Akhtar highlighted successful models like the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Tata Trust, noting that the proper utilization of Waqf properties could drive major social change.

JPC Commendation & Muslim Rashtriya Manch’s Triumph

Under the leadership of Jagdambika Pal, the JPC approved 14 amendments to ensure transparency, eliminate corruption, and prevent encroachments.

National Convener Dr. Shahid Akhtar described it as a journey ‘from the streets to Parliament’, adding, “This bill will act as a unifying force for society.”

To underline the importance of the bill, MRM released the book ‘Waqf Bill 2024: Respect to Islam and Gift for Muslims’, which was launched by distinguished personalities, including Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, JPC Chairman Jagdambika Pal, Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Minority Commission Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura, RSS Outreach Chief Ram Lal, and Chief Imam Umer Ilyasi of All India Imam Organizations. Rijiju and Pal lauded the book as an encyclopedia on Waqf and a timely necessity.

Future Vision

Dr. Shahid Akhtar called the Waqf Amendment Bill a landmark step toward equality and development in society. He termed it not just a law but a new beginning aimed at promoting education, healthcare, employment, and social welfare through Waqf properties.

Other organizations associated with MRM described the bill as a symbol of hope and prosperity for all sections of society.

MRM emphasized that the bill would ensure digitalization and transparent management of Waqf properties, eliminating corruption and irregularities.

Shahid Sayeed proposed establishing educational institutions, hospitals, skill development centers, and employment hubs through the efficient utilization of Waqf properties.

He also stressed the importance of third-party audits and public use of these assets. According to him, the bill benefits not only the Muslim community but also contributes to the development and prosperity of the entire nation.

Supporting the bill, he said, is the responsibility of every citizen who envisions India as an equitable and progressive nation.
