The Central Government has effected a significant administrative reshuffle at the beginning of the New Year. A large number of senior civil and police officers of the AGMUT cadre have been transferred.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued the transfer order on 4 January 2026, and the changes have taken effect immediately.
According to the order, 31 IAS officers and 18 IPS officers have been posted to new assignments across various regions covered under the AGMUT cadre. These include Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh.
Several senior IAS officers have been moved out of Delhi to other Union Territories.
Ashwani Kumar (1992 batch) has been transferred from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir. Shurbir Singh (2004 batch) has been posted to Ladakh.
Among younger officers, Ravi Dadhich (2014 batch) has been moved from Delhi to Mizoram, and Kinny Singh has been posted to Puducherry.
At the same time, a number of officers have been brought to Delhi from other regions.
Santosh D Vaidya (1998 batch) has been transferred from Jammu and Kashmir to Delhi, while Padma Jaiswal (2003 batch) has moved from Puducherry to the national capital.
Yashpal Garg from Arunachal Pradesh and Sanjeev Ahuja from Goa have also been posted to Delhi.
Several junior officers, including Vishakha Yadav (2020 batch) and Azharuddin Quazi, have received postings in Delhi.
The reshuffle also includes notable changes among IPS officers. Ajit Kumar Singla (2004 batch) has been transferred from Puducherry to Delhi, while Mangesh Kashyap (2009 batch) has moved from Delhi to Arunachal Pradesh.
Multiple IPS officers have been shifted between Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Delhi.
Young officers such as Isha Singh (2021 batch) have also been posted to Delhi from Puducherry.
Such transfers are a regular feature of the AGMUT cadre. They are aimed at giving officers exposure to diverse administrative and policing challenges across different regions.
