Major Accident Averted As Kisan Express Splits In UP’s Bijnor

On August 25, 2024, a major accident was narrowly avoided when the Kisan Express, in route from Firozpur to Dhanbad, split into two parts in Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. near Chakrajmal due to a coupling break.

At the time of the split, 13 of the 22 coaches were detached from the engine and eight coaches. The engine and the eight remaining coaches continued to Seohara railway station, while the 13 detached coaches, including the guard’s compartment, were left behind. This caused panic among passengers, including police recruitment candidates, who were left in the detached coaches.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The train guard immediately alerted the driver and police. Both railway and police officials responded quickly to the situation. Four buses were arranged to transport the candidates to Bareilly, ensuring they continued their journey without delay.

Superintendent of Police Dharam Singh Marchal confirmed the incident, noting that it occurred in the Seohara police station area. Railway officials attributed the split to a technical fault and are working to reconnect the two parts of the train. They expect to resume normal operations shortly.

The incident disrupted services on the railway route for several hours. Consequently, the Jananayak Express was halted at Habibwala, and the Punjab Mail was stopped at Dhampur for nearly two hours. This left many passengers anxious and uncertain about their travel plans. Railway officials are diligently working to restore normal service and minimize further disruptions.
