The 45th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Gandhian Studies (ISGS) is set to take place from January 27 to 29, 2025, at the CPDUMT Auditorium, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad. Themed “Mahatma Gandhi’s Journalism and Its Relevance in the Contemporary Era,” the event promises to delve into Gandhian principles and their application in today’s world of journalism.
The inaugural session on January 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM will feature prominent personalities as key participants. Upendrra Rai, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Express News, will serve as the Chief Guest. The event will also include renowned figures such as Prof. Mohammad Fariyad, Dean of SJMC at MANUU, and Dr. Shaimaa Soharwardi, CEO of Integro Hospital, Hyderabad.
Adding significant depth to the conference, Prof. Anil Kumar Rai, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of PDU Shekhawati University, Sikar, Rajasthan, will deliver the keynote address. Prof. Rai, a Member of the ICSSR and former President of ISGS, expect to offer profound insights into Gandhian journalism.

The event, organized by the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at MANUU in collaboration with the Indian Society of Gandhian Studies, Jaipur, aims to highlight the lasting impact of Gandhian values. Sponsors like the Telangana State Urdu Academy further underscore the event’s significance.
The conference will conclude with a valedictory session on January 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Distinguished guests such as Sri Kota Sreevatsa, Joint Metropolitan Commissioner, HMDA, and Pragya Mishra, Editor of Ulta Chasma, will address the audience. Sumaira Sarib Rasool Khan and Ms. Maria Arifuddin will also share their perspectives.
