Maharashtra Government Announces Major Police Reshuffle Ahead Of Ganapati Festival

In a significant move aimed at bolstering law and order for the upcoming 11-day Ganapati festival, the Maharashtra Government has enacted a sweeping reshuffle within the police department.

Among the notable changes, Mumbai’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Tejaswi Satpute has been reassigned to the role of DCP in Pune city. DCP Zone 9 Rajtilak Roshan will now serve as the Assistant Inspector General (Law and Order) in the state Director General of Police (DGP) office. Similarly, DCP Pune city Sandip Sinh Gill will take on the role of Pune Superintendent of Police (Rural), while Pune SP (Rural) Pankaj Deshmukh will be transferred to Mumbai as Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Nagpur DCP Nimit Goyal has been moved to Mumbai as DCP, and Vijay Chavan, the Commandant of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) from Solapur, will now lead the Police Training Centre in Solapur.

Additional key transfers include Bhandara SP Lohit Matano, who will become Nagpur DCP; Thane DCP Sudhakar Pathrabe, who will assume the role of DCP in Mumbai; and Sushant Singh, who has been appointed as Commandant. Other notable assignments include Abhaysinh Deshmukh as Superintendent of Arms Supervision in Pune, Gokul Raj G as Commandant of SRPF in Navi Mumbai, and Ashish Kamble as Additional SP in Nandurbar.

Several Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) have also been appointed to new positions, with Dipak Agrawal designated as SDPO Nagpur (Rural), Dugal Darshan Prakashchand as SDPO Akkalkua (Nandurbar), Harshvardhan BJ as SDPO Pusad (Yavatmal), and Jitan Beniwal as SDPO Jintur (Parbhani), among others.

However, this comprehensive reshuffle reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing security and ensuring a smooth and safe Ganapati festival celebration across the state.
