The Maharashtra Congress protested against the “anti-people” policies of the state and central governments on Friday by starting a statewide “chikkhal phenko” (mudslinging) movement.
The campaign, according to State Congress President Nana Patole, intends to draw attention to the NEET paper leaks, rising unemployment, high inflation, declining law and order, and other shortcomings of the MahaYuti and NDA governments, which are led by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
“The state and the centre are celebrating their desertion of the people. The state’s law and order system has entirely crumbled, and people are struggling to make ends meet as a result of wild inflation and unemployment, according to Patole.

He asserted that the government is doing nothing to stop the state’s impoverished farmers from harm. The reason behind is widespread illegal market for seeds and fertilisers.
In order to bring these “burning” issues to the government’s attention, the Congress arranged a “mudslinging” campaign in many state districts.
Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Kolhapur, and other regions of the state saw the movement.
Speaking to the media, Patole claimed that although farmers receive various farming aids such as pesticides, sprays, fertilisers, and medicines through the direct bank transfer scheme, the government increased the price of spray pumps from Rs 2,700 to Rs 4,500, and other items are being purchased at higher rates.
He pointed out that even if the Centre raised the MSP for some crops, the rise is extremely little in comparison to inflation given the high cost of diesel, fertiliser, seeds, and other agricultural inputs, leaving farmers with nothing.
Patole said that the administration is ridiculing their agony by calling the suffering of farmers ‘drought-like’ situation.
