Shantanu Shukla, media in-charge of Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Kailashanand Giri Maharaj, has reiterated that Mahant Ravindra Puri of the Niranjani Akhara continues to be the only constitutional President of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad. He dismissed reports regarding the formation of another Akhara Parishad, describing the move as unconstitutional and misleading.
Shukla alleged that Mahant Ravindra Puri of the Mahanirvani Akhara recently formed a parallel Akhara Parishad, claiming that the newly constituted body has no constitutional validity. He said he spoke with Mahant Ravindra Puri earlier in the day, who clarified that following the demise of the late Mahant Narendra Giri, the General Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad had unanimously elected him as the organisation’s President.
According to Shantanu Shukla, the successful organisation of the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh under Mahant Ravindra Puri’s leadership stands as proof of his recognised position within the Parishad. He further alleged that attempts to create confusion through parallel organisations tend to surface before every major religious gathering, misleading devotees and the public.
Mahant Ravindra Puri also stated that both the Nirmal Akhara and the Udaseen Akhara currently have two separate factions, with one faction from each extending its support to his leadership.
Shantanu Shukla said this reflects continued backing from prominent sections of the Akhara community.
Mahant Ravindra Puri is currently in Nashik and will reach Haridwar on Tuesday.
Shukla urged the Mela administration and the government to ignore what he called false claims and recognise only the constitutionally established leadership of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad.
