Maha Kumbh 2025: Devotee Safety To Be Ensured Across Water, Land, And Sky, Says DGP Prashant Kumar

Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar visited Prayagraj on Saturday to review security arrangements ahead of Mahakumbh 2025. The Yogi Adityanath government has ensured comprehensive safety measures for the event, covering water, land, and sky.

During his visit, DGP Kumar held a review meeting with senior officials and confirmed that the safety of devotees is the state police’s top priority. “All security preparations have been completed,” he stated, addressing the media.

Advanced Technology And Additional Security Personnel Deployed

DGP Kumar emphasized that security measures include advanced technology and enhanced personnel deployment. “We have deployed interceptors, tethered drones, and an anti-drone system to strengthen security,” he said. Water security has been significantly improved compared to previous Kumbh events, and the number and capacity of ghats have been expanded for better crowd management.

The DGP also highlighted that special funds had been allocated for disaster management, fire safety, and traffic control. “These measures ensure the safety and convenience of devotees,” he remarked.

Seven-Tier Security System In Place For Mahakumbh 2025

The DGP assured that the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) para commando team had been deployed in Prayagraj for Mahakumbh 2025. “We are monitoring all potential threats carefully,” he said. A seven-tier security system has been established, extending from international and interstate borders to the event area.

Kumar confirmed that 40% more security personnel have been deployed compared to previous Kumbh events. He also mentioned the coordination with the railways for smooth crowd movement and proactive measures to secure cyber infrastructure during the event.

Earlier, the DGP inspected key locations, including Civil Lines police station and VIP Ghat. He observed joint mock drills conducted by police and the ATS. His visit included a boat trip to Sangam, where he reviewed security measures and performed achamana (ritual purification).

In addition to security reviews, the DGP paid respects at Bade Hanuman Ji temple and inaugurated the SSP Kumbh office. He also interacted with constables and inspectors at the Akshayvat police station.

For better preparedness, the DGP witnessed demonstrations of tethered drones and specialized vehicles. He later attended a high-level meeting on traffic management, security at railway stations and bus stops, and cybercrime awareness.

Mahakumbh 2025 is expected to draw 40 to 50 crore people, including many international devotees, and the government’s priority remains ensuring their safety.
