Maha Kumbh 2025: Fire Safety Boosted With Deployment Of Articulating Water Towers

Ahead of Maha Kumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Department has significantly bolstered fire safety in the fair area by deploying four state-of-the-art Articulating Water Towers (AWTs).

These advanced firefighting vehicles will likely prevent fire incidents, especially in the vast tent city and large-scale tent setups.

Equipped with cutting-edge video and thermal imaging technologies, the AWTs are crucial in enhancing safety measures.

These features not only aid in fire detection and prevention but also ensure the safety of firefighters during high-risk operations.

The towers can conduct firefighting operations up to a height of 35 meters and cover a horizontal distance of 30 meters, making them vital for tackling fires in multi-storey structures and extensive tent setups.

Pramod Sharma, Maha Kumbh’s nodal fire officer, highlighted the importance of AWTs in modern firefighting operations, particularly in challenging environments like the Maha Kumbh. These vehicles will also serve as protective shields for firefighters during hazardous situations, ensuring their safety while carrying out rescue operations.

Aman Sharma, Deputy Director of Fire Services, revealed that a total budget of Rs 131.48 crore has been allocated for fire protection measures at the Maha Kumbh, including Rs 66.75 crore specifically for these initiatives. The deployment of over 351 firefighting vehicles, more than 2,000 trained personnel, 50 fire stations, and 20 fire posts is already underway.

In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, every Akhara tent will equipped with firefighting tools to further safeguard the millions attending the grand event.

With these measures in place, the authorities aim to create a fire-accident-free environment for Maha Kumbh 2025.
