Magh Purnima Draws Huge Crowds To Sangam For Holy Dip In Prayagraj

Prayagraj witnessed a massive gathering of devotees on Wednesday as thousands took a sacred dip at the Sangam on the occasion of Magh Purnima during Maha Kumbh 2025.

To manage the influx, authorities restricted vehicle entry into the fairgrounds a day prior.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been actively overseeing the arrangements since early morning.

DIG Prayagraj, Vaibhav Krishna, stated that crowd management was proceeding smoothly, ensuring an orderly bathing process at all ghats.

Authorities have however implemented strict traffic diversions and effective crowd control measures to maintain discipline.

Enhancing the spiritual fervor, authorities actively showered flower petals on devotees and saints as they performed the holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati.

The Chief Minister conveyed his wishes on social media, praying for the devotees’ well-being, prosperity, and good fortune.

Taking to X, CM Yogi posted, “Hearty congratulations to all the devotees and residents of the state on the holy bathing festival Magh Purnima! Heartiest greetings to all the revered saints, religious leaders, Kalpvasis and devotees who have come for holy bath in the sacred Triveni in Maha Kumbh 2025, Prayagraj today! May everyone’s life be filled with happiness, prosperity and good fortune by the grace of Lord Shri Hari. May Mother Ganga, Mother Yamuna and Mother Saraswati fulfil everyone’s wishes, this is my wish.”

Authorities have intensified security, deploying paramilitary forces at key locations to control crowd surges.

CM Yogi is personally overseeing the situation from a dedicated war room in Lucknow. He is accompanied by DGP Prashant Kumar and Home Secretary Sanjay Prasad.

The state government has further ensured comprehensive safety and medical arrangements, keeping hospitals on high alert.

Surveillance is underway on land, water, and air. Additionally, 133 ambulances, including seven river ambulances and one air ambulance deployed to handle emergencies.

Expressing joy, a devotee noted, “We feel very blessed, Maghi Purnima has great significance in our Gita and other scriptures. Taking a dip on this day washes away all our sins and guides us toward the right path in life, the devotee further added.

“This divine and grand Maha Kumbh has been organized through the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Modi and CM Yogi. Officials are conducting it excellently, and we are fortunate to witness it.”
