Lookout Circular Issued As CCTV Footage Reveals Absconding Mihir Shah In Mumbai BMW Hit-And-Run

A CCTV camera captured footage of Mihir Shah, the main suspect in a fatal BMW crash in Mumbai’s Worli, leaving a pub with four friends in a Mercedes before the accident. According to the Mumbai Police, Mihir Shah, son of Rajesh Shah—Shiv Sena deputy leader in Palghar and ally of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde—later switched to a BMW. Shah was allegedly driving the BMW with his driver in the passenger seat when the accident occurred.

Mumbai Police have issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) for the 24-year-old Shah, who allegedly crashed into a scooter in Worli on Sunday, July 7, killing 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa, who was riding pillion with her husband.

The police suspect Shah, who did not continue his education beyond Class 10, was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Fatal Crash Details

Kaveri Nakhwa, a resident of Worli Koliwada, was traveling with her husband Pradeep on Dr. Annie Besant Road when the BMW, driven by Shah, struck their two-wheeler around 5:30 AM on Sunday. The impact dragged Nakhwa for over 2 kilometers. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Following the accident, Shah fled towards the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, abandoning the car and his driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, near Kala Nagar in Bandra.

Arrests and Ongoing Search

Rajesh Shah, Mihir’s father, and Bidawat were arrested by Worli Police on Sunday for allegedly aiding Shah’s escape. Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena leader from Palghar, owns the BMW involved in the accident. To prevent Mihir Shah from fleeing the country, Mumbai Police issued an LOC against him on Sunday evening. Six teams have been formed to locate the accused.

Police suspect Shah was under the influence of alcohol, as he was seen at a bar in Juhu hours before the incident. They found an ₹18,000 bar bill, which is under verification. CCTV footage from the bar is also being examined.

Statement from Eknath Shinde

Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena head Eknath Shinde commented on the incident, emphasizing that the law applies equally to everyone and that no one will be spared.
