Lok Sabha Elections 2024: PM Modi Kicks Off West UP Campaign Trail with Rally in Amroha Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up for another extensive campaign drive in Western Uttar Pradesh, commencing on April 19, coinciding with the start of voting in 102 parliamentary constituencies during the first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Having already addressed three rallies in Western Uttar Pradesh, specifically in Meerut, Saharanpur, and Pilibhit, PM Modi is set to intensify his efforts as eight seats in the region go to polls in the first phase on Friday. These constituencies include Saharanpur, Bijnor, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Nagina, Moradabad, Rampur, and Pilibhit.

On Friday, the Prime Minister will address a rally in Amroha, a constituency slated for voting in the second phase on April 26. Amroha holds significance as one of the 16 parliamentary seats that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost in the 2019 general elections. Notably, Kunwar Danish Ali, the incumbent who won the seat in 2019 on a BSP ticket, is contesting again in 2024 as a Congress-SP candidate, with the BJP fielding Devendra Nagpal.

Following PM Modi’s rally, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav are scheduled to participate in the INDIA bloc’s campaigning in Amroha on April 20.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister will address rallies in Hathras and Aligarh Lok Sabha constituencies on April 22. Despite the BJP’s victory in both seats in 2019, changes have been made in candidate selection, with Anoop Valmiki replacing Rajveer Singh Diler in Hathras and Satish Gautam contesting again in Aligarh.

PM Modi’s itinerary further includes public meetings in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri on April 25, where BJP candidates SP Singh Baghel and Raj Kumar Chahar, both sitting MPs, will seek re-election.

Additionally, rallies are scheduled in Bareilly, Aonla, and Shahjahanpur on April 25, amidst discontent within the BJP ranks following the denial of a Lok Sabha ticket to Santosh Gangwar, a former minister and Bareilly’s sitting MP. Gangwar’s supporters staged protests over alleged insults directed towards him by Bareilly mayor Umesh Gautam, prompting attention from party leadership.
