Aadhaar Card has become an indispensable part of an Indian’s identity, but an Adhaar update can be exhausting. So, the government has made an effort to ease this tiring task. Now you may make an update to it without any hassle. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is allowing the public of India to update their Adhaars online.
The best part is that no payment is required to get the work done. One has to simply upload their documents online, follow a simple procedure and hours’ work can be done in minutes. This free-of-cost Adhaar update is available for a limited period of three months that is from March 15 to June 14. However, those who wish to update the same physically will have to pay ₹50 (the usual).
People can make changes in address, name (minor changes only), date of birth, and gender in their Aadhaar ID. The changes can be made by going through the simple steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Log in to the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal using your Aadhaar number and you will get an OTP on your registered mobile number.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Name/Gender/Date of Birth & Address Update’ option for updating the details.
Step 3: Now, select the actual option as to what you want to update. It can be name, gender, date of birth etc.
Step 4: Choose the demographic field that you want to update and enter the required demographic data.
Step 5: Upload scanned copies of original supporting documents for name, address, and date of birth correction.
Step 6: You will get the Service Request Number (SRN) that can be used to track the update request or for any future communication with the UIDAI helpdesk
Step 7: Once your request is verified by UIDAI’s internal quality check operators, where your demographic data is matched with the supporting documents, you will receive an SMS notification containing the Enrolment ID
Step 8: After a few more validations by the backend software, your request processing will be completed and you will receive an SMS notification about the outcome.
