The details of a tragic event that unfolded in Kolkata sent shockwaves across the nation, particularly among couples living together. A 32-year-old man, Sarthak Das, was fatally stabbed by his live-in partner, Sanhati Paul. Just hours before the grim event, Das shared a photo on social media featuring himself, Paul, and her son, captioned “family.”
Paul, a professional makeup artist and a divorced mother, had been in a live-in relationship with Das, a photographer. Their social media accounts displayed numerous pictures together, and Das even updated his relationship status to “engaged.”
Amidst reports of relationship issues between the couple, the situation escalated on Wednesday when Paul allegedly stabbed Das multiple times with a sharp knife. Distressed by the incident, Paul contacted the police to report the crime.
Upon receiving the call, a police team rushed to Paul’s apartment in the Dumdum area. They discovered Sarthak Das lying in a pool of blood, bearing several stab wounds. Despite swift transportation to a nearby hospital, Das was pronounced dead upon arrival.
During police interrogation, Paul confessed to committing the crime. The authorities are still investigating the specific motives behind the tragic stabbing, and Sanhati Paul has been arrested on murder charges.
