Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address young athletes and youth leaders during the nationwide Khelo India Dialogue: Khel Ki Baat, Pradhan Mantri Modi Ke Saath on August 27.
The programme will mark National Sports Day 2026 and take place across more than 1,500 educational institutions.
The initiative will unite budding athletes, students, policymakers and prominent sportspersons. It will allow young participants to share ideas on strengthening India’s sporting ecosystem and widening opportunities for youth.
IITs, IIMs, NITs, AIIMS, leading medical colleges and universities will participate.
PM Modi’s virtual address will precede physical programmes held simultaneously at participating institutions.
The programme will focus on four areas. These include improving grassroots sports infrastructure, coaching and competition; identifying and nurturing talent for the 2036 Olympics; expanding youth participation in governance and leadership; and developing future-ready skills, volunteering and nation-building opportunities.
Leading athletes, including Deepa Karmakar, Saina Nehwal, Gagan Narang, Sreejesh, Mary Kom, Baichung Bhutia, Pullela Gopichand, Anju Bobby George, Karnam Malleswari, Mirabai Chanu, and PT Usha, will interact with participants. They will discuss their sporting journeys, challenges, and experiences.
MPs, MLAs, Union Ministers, Ministers of State and State Sports Ministers will join discussions across various locations.
The programme will explore scientific talent identification and stronger pathways from grassroots sport to elite competition, supporting India’s long-term 2036 Olympics ambitions.
Organisers will encourage continued youth engagement through the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue Quiz and registration on the MY Bharat Portal.
