Kedarnath Sees Highest Footfall As Char Dham Yatra Crosses 1.26 Million Visitors

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand’s revered Char Dham Yatra is progressing towards a historic milestone this year.

Since the pilgrimage commenced on April 19, more than 1.26 million devotees have visited the sacred Himalayan shrines within just 25 days.

Officials described the turnout as an extraordinary display of spiritual devotion and faith.

According to official figures recorded till May 13, nearly 5,23,582 pilgrims visited Kedarnath Temple, while 3,24,081 devotees offered prayers at Badrinath Temple.

Gangotri Temple received 2,05,425 pilgrims, whereas 2,07,390 devotees completed darshan at Yamunotri Temple.

On Wednesday alone, 80,401 pilgrims visited the four shrines. Kedarnath recorded the highest footfall with 32,423 devotees, followed by Badrinath with 21,260 visitors.

Yamunotri welcomed 13,403 pilgrims, while Gangotri received 13,315 devotees.

Kedarnath emerged as the busiest shrine despite difficult trekking routes and unpredictable Himalayan weather conditions.

Authorities attributed the rising numbers to improved infrastructure, advanced crowd management systems, and extensive redevelopment work undertaken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project.

Chief Minister Dhami stated that pilgrim safety and convenience remain the administration’s highest priority.

Officials continue monitoring weather conditions closely while ensuring rapid emergency response arrangements across the Yatra routes.
