Karnataka Government Officer's Driver Arrested
In Bengaluru, a driver named Kiran has been arrested for the murder of Karnataka government officer Prathima KS, who was found dead at her home in Subramanyapora. Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect had been terminated from his position as a driver approximately seven to ten days prior to the incident.
Sources revealed that Kiran, who had been employed as an on-contract government worker for five years, confessed to the crime, explaining that he killed Prathima because she had terminated his employment. After the murder, Kiran reportedly fled to Chamarajanagar, located about 200 km from Bengaluru.
Prathima KS, aged 45, worked as a geologist in the state’s Mines and Geology Department. She was brutally stabbed to death at her residence, while her husband and son were in the Shivamogga district, which is around 300 km away from Bengaluru.
The discovery of Prathima’s body, with her throat slit, was made around 8.30 am on a Sunday when her brother alerted the police. Preliminary investigations indicate that she had been at her office until 6 pm on the preceding Saturday. Subsequently, she was dropped off at her home by the replacement driver hired to fill Kiran’s position, which occurred at around 8 pm, according to the police.

Law enforcement sources believe the murder took place between 8 pm on Saturday and 8 am on Sunday. Prathima’s residence was a two-floor independent building located in Doddakallasandra.
Prathima, whose job required her to travel throughout the city, including rural areas, had obtained her Master’s degree from a college in Shivamogga and had been working in Bengaluru for over a year.
A senior officer from the state’s Environment Department, named Dinesh, described Prathima as a highly dynamic and hardworking individual. She had earned a strong reputation within the department for her bravery and dedication, even participating in recent raids.
