Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Friday that he has responded to the show cause notice issued by Governor Gehlot. The notice relates to alleged irregularities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority and questions why prosecution consent should not be granted against him.
After attending the ’13th Bengaluru India Nano’, a nanotechnology event in Bengaluru, CM Siddaramaiah spoke to the media about the notice. He stated that the ministers have prepared and submitted a reply.
“The Cabinet has decided to advise the Governor to withdraw the notice and reject the complaint made by Mr. Abraham,” Siddaramaiah said.
On Thursday, the Karnataka government appealed to the Governor to withdraw the notice and dismiss the petition by social activist TJ Abraham.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, speaking at a press conference at the Vidhana Soudha, said, “The council of ministers strongly urges the honorable Governor to withdraw the notice issued to CM Siddaramaiah and reject the petition by TJ Abraham. We make this appeal with all humility. This is an attack on democracy and the Constitution.”
The show cause notice, dated July 26, stated, “Upon reviewing the request for prosecution, the allegations against you appear serious and plausible. A complaint has already been filed against you in the Lokayukta police station in Mysuru by the petitioner on July 18.”
The notice directed CM Siddaramaiah to submit his reply within seven days, along with supporting documents, explaining why permission for prosecution should not be granted to the petitioner.
