Kanpur Aircraft Crash: Two Pilots Killed After Training Plane Crashes Near Ganga

Two pilots died on Thursday after a four-seater, twin-engine Tecnam training aircraft crashed into a field near the Ganga River in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur. The aircraft reportedly lost control before hitting the ground.

Emergency services and local authorities reached the site soon after receiving information.

Kanpur Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal confirmed the deaths of the pilot and co-pilot.

Police identified the pilot as Sachin, a Gujarat resident with more than 3,000 flying hours. Co-pilot Abhishek Pujari belonged to Karnataka. Both men died in the crash.

Officials said the aircraft crashed at around 11:50 am after taking off from the Garg Aviation Training Centre near Natthapurwa village, under the Gwaltoli police station area.

Police and rescue teams secured the crash site and began examining the circumstances.

Authorities have informed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), whose team is expected to visit the location. Officials will conduct a detailed inquiry to establish the precise cause of the accident.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed sorrow over the deaths. He offered condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for peace for the deceased and strength for their relatives.

The crash comes amid several recent incidents involving training aircraft.

In June, a woman pilot suffered minor injuries after a two-seater trainee aircraft crashed into a field in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district.

Earlier, in May, a training aircraft operated by the Redbird Flight Training Academy made a hard landing near Gojubavi village in Maharashtra’s Baramati.

Further details will emerge as investigators continue examining the Kanpur accident.
