A special programme will commemorate the death anniversary of former Union Minister Kalpnath Rai on August 8, 2026, at Saraisadi in Ghosi, Mau district.
The event will honour Kalpnath Rai’s legacy while launching a major renewable energy initiative by redeveloping and expanding the off-grid solar plant he established in 1992.
Organisers will announce the naming of the existing solar plant after Kalpnath Rai and unveil plans to install his statue in recognition of his contribution to the region’s development. They will also lay the foundation stone for redeveloping the campus and modernising the 100-kilowatt solar plant, which has remained non-operational for nearly 25 years.
According to Uttar Pradesh Minister and programme organiser Arvind Kumar Sharma, the project will transform the existing 100-kilowatt facility into a modern 5-megawatt Solar Energy Park, increasing its capacity nearly fiftyfold.
The project aims to boost clean energy generation while creating new opportunities for local development, investment and employment.
The programme will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, August 8, at the proposed Solar Energy Park site in Saraisadi, Ghosi.
Organisers have invited public representatives, social workers, local residents and citizens from across the region to pay tribute to the late leader and witness the launch of the ambitious renewable energy project.
The initiative aims to honour Kalpnath Rai’s development-oriented vision while laying the foundation for a new era of sustainable growth in the region.
By expanding renewable energy infrastructure, the project seeks to position Saraisadi and its surrounding areas as an emerging solar energy hub, supporting Uttar Pradesh’s clean energy goals and generating long-term economic benefits for local communities.
